It is just a “LANGUAGE” like your mother tongue language.
You just need to practice speaking.
How can you practice speaking English without a partner?
Already you have memorized hundreds of English vocabulary words. You can also write beautiful sentences.
Then what is your challenge?
It’s very simple, the challenge is nothing comes out when you open your mouth to speak with somebody…
Maybe you had already gone through so many books, websites and apps to learn how to speak English fluently. Am I right?
From my experience, let me tell you, to improve your spoken English, the best thing to do is to talk with a native speaker.
But what will you do if you don’t have that option?
Don’t worry. You can still improve your English, even without a speaking partner.
I am going to explain you how is that possible?
8 Steps for improving your Spoken English
Right now, before you try to speak English with somebody, you are thinking that subject or matter in your native language and after that whey start talk, you will be doing a translation of that thought matter to English. And that translation is not an easy thing and that’s you feel a time delay when you speak. So the first and difficult thing in talking in a new language isn’t that language, but it’s how you are thinking about it.
So, what is the solution?
“Think in English”.
Try to use English when you’re thinking about your day, or when you’re trying to decide what food to order or which movie to watch this week or any matter. If you practice this, you never have to translate your native language to English. SO THINK IN ENGISH. You can do this alone in anywhere and anytime. After some days you can notice that before you speak in English, you had already thought in English.
Talk to yourself
Who is your first favorite person?
If you are thinking in English, the next step you have to do is to speak your thoughts to yourself. And it should be in louder
Louder you speak, sooner you good in speaking English
Don’t try to find the mistakes, because you are talking to yourself and just try to practice the act of speaking out louder.
Let me explain how I practiced.
First, you need a mirror, a timer, and a mobile.
Choose a topic by yourself. Any topic is fine. Like cooking, fashion trends, your children’s, your husband, life, your first travel with your partner, like anything. Think about that topic in English for just 5 minutes.
Set your timer to 3 minutes.
Start your mobile recording and then just start talking in front of the mirror.
Watch your mouth, your face, your gestures and the body language when you speak. It makes you feel like you’re talking to someone else.
Keep an eye on the timer also. If you stuck on a word, DON’T STOP, you can just try to express in some other way. Once the timer ends, just listen to the recording in your mobile.
Take a break for 2-3 minutes and repeat the same exercise.
Practice this exercise up to 5 times.
You will definitely find the difference in your fifth recording that you’re improving a lot in your speaking when you compared to your first recording.
So how did you achieve this?
You alone did your practice.
No other speaking partner or native speaker.
Am I right?
Focus on Fluency
In the above exercise, how many times you have stopped?
When you stop, you can see yourself that you become less confident in your sound and less comfortable in your body language.
But you tried to challenge yourself in the repeated exercises to speak without stopping or stammering.
Your sentences may not be grammatically perfect, but it’s okay!.
You just need to focus on speaking fluently and in louder instead of its grammar and tenses.
You will gradually fill in the correct grammar and tenses when you learn them better in the future.
I will tell you another tip to improve your fluency.
Have you heard about “Tongue Twisters”?
Those are series of words that are difficult to say quickly.
For example, try to say this a few times.
“Thirty-three thirsty, thundering thoroughbreds thumped Mr. Thurber on Thursday.”
It’s not easy. Right?
These are some sort of word games and this will help you to find the right placement of your mouth and your tongue, and also can help your pronunciation. You can get many tongue twisters from the google.
Watch, Listen, Sing and Repeat with English movies and songs
Do you watch English TV shows, news or English movies or music?
If not, start this as a habit from today onwards.
It will really improve your English fluency.
You can download the English movies from the internet. Keep this in your mind that you have to download the English subtitles also. Then while watching that movie, try to memorize a short part of the subtitle and then try to repeat line by line. It doesn’t matter suppose if you miss some words or sentences, the only important thing you have to do is to keep TALKING. You can also try, to match the tone, the speed and even the accent as the actor or the native speakers on the movie or the shows.
Also try to listen, when and where the actor or the speaker gives the emphasis when they speak. If you repeat like that, it will, of course, reduce some of your misunderstandings and also it will help you to speak well in English.
Singing along with English songs can also help you become more fluent in English.
Rap music is a great way to practice English because there the words are spoken like normal sentences.
Learn phrases and word forms
Using the correct form of a word in any kind of sentence is very important in English.
If you learn the different forms of words and phrases, English Speaking and writing will be easier.

Knowledge of “phrases” is very important.
A native speaker might say phrases like what’s up?, how’re you?, instead of “how do you feel now?”.
Learning phrases and different forms of words will help you to become more natural as a native speaker in the future.
